Another lousy Adam Sandler movie that will be a blockbuster. Amazing. Very few stars nowadays are as consistent as him.

Cars continues to do well only sliding 33%. Looks like Cars may not be a disappointment after all, and if it holds up well, it could be the biggest box office movie this year.

Next week, Superman should be the easy #1.

I gathered that much from the long theatrical trailers.  It seemed kind of emo or preachy for a comedy.

Am I insane for thinking that the concept of Click lends itself much, much better to a dramatic story than a comedic one.

I'm guessing its some attempt at a hybrid which probably doesn't work as either.

I think it lends itself to a drama better than a comedy.  Which isn't to say it's also a pretty decent premise for like.. an episode of a sitcom or something.

They made this drama movie.

It's called the Butterfly Effect.

Well maybe but Click: The Drama could possibly have not awful writing and actually do a better job exploring the concept.

When I first saw ads for it I told my sister, "See? Sandler is trying to be Jim Carrey.  Now he's making Bruce Almighty."  So, before Butterfly Effect I'd have to go with that.

Also:
butteredtoast6: But Click seems to be "Hey I can do whatever the fuck I want" while BE was "Fuck.  bad shit happened I should try and fix it--oh God what did I do??"

Superman Returns did very well. But not that well. I mean it had everything going for it. Great reviews etc.

The Devil Wears Prada unexpectedly did well. This looks to be a movie with legs that can be counterprogramming in the weeks to come.

I expect next week Pirates of the Carribean to make a huge splash at #1. It'll probably be the biggest movie this year.

Superman Returns will make more than Batman Begins, which is a good thing.  A step in the right direction for both franchises, although I'm sure there advertising campaign for the next Superman will be a bit more focused once they see the results for this one.  The next sequels for these two franchises should be closer to Spider-man numbers should they continue to improve.

Wow I was expecting Pirates to bring it in like 80-100 million for the weekend, but to go to 130 is just amazing.  If it has sticking power it could reach over 300.

It would've been nicer for Superman to be around 30 million, but it looks safe for it to reach 200 million before it's done.

POTC2 seems to be at this point the biggest hit at the box office this year. I don't see any other movie topping that. POTC may be the next big Hollywood franchise with the better than expected (tenfold) opening day weekend gross.

It should be at the top of the box office for a few weeks at least.
