Sandra Bullock is a big name?
I meant the SEC coaches drawing in the college football crowd

And I don't really remember a movie being as specifically targeted for advertisement during ESPN football games and Sportscenter, at least in recent memory, as much as this.
This argument is weird as hell

I mean based on the random ad or two I saw of that movie it seemed to be a lot more in the "touching family drama" vein than ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBAAAALLLLLLLLL

Were the ESPN ads more in the latter vein because that just seems weird

The ads all made a point to prominently feature all the coaches that would be in it even though I assume they were probably in it for like 15 minutes

And there were on ALL THE TIME ON ESPN

this isn't so damn crazy, "touching family drama" with just Sandra Bullock attached does not make $30 million in its first weekend, c'mon

OVK can't tell the difference because the only channel he watches is ESPN.

Well when he isn't watching THE GOOD WIFE on CBS.

First Post After Goldenboy.

So much for New Moon dropping down the list. Impressed that the Blind Side actually made more this weekend, but I guess it's not shocking considering it had new moon to deal with last weekend.

Wouldn't be the first time Cameron has ripped off a classic sci fi author.

After all, Harlan Ellison created the Terminator and won a lawsuit in 1997 that forced Cameron to acknowledge it.

Dances with Smurfs.

The 60 Minutes fluff piece on this film suggests that he thought of the character designs himself. Didn't mention if he was "inspired" by anything.

BoxOfficeMojo says this was in 1,007 theaters, so that amounts to $250 a theater, which amounts to the worst 1,000+ theater opening ever.

It looked shitty but wow.

How the hell did it get 1007 theaters? The Hottie and the Nottie got about a tenth of that (and did $249/theater), and that had Paris Hilton in it.

It's also a sequel/reimagining of a direct-to-DVD sequel of a shitty movie that was released in less theaters in the first place.

Yeah this one is pretty out there.

"Avatar apparently made $77.3 million, just squeezing past I Am Legend's December opening record of $77.2 million. Not only that, but it was the biggest-ever weekend haul from IMAX screens, with $9.5 million of that cash coming from the 178 IMAX screens where it was playing."

Meanwhile you guys are either sitting on your asses or being like Vinnie and feeding the damn AVATAR machine.
