THE HAPPENING 6/13 WHAT HAPPENED?

I thought Ozy and Dr. Manhattan were the strengths

The Silk Spectre was kind of not convincing when she was talking with Dr. Manhattan. The scene with multiple Dr. Manhattans stands out. I thought she should have been freaked out but she came off as just annoyed. But that's also on direction.
rorschach and the comedian were the best parts of the movie

ozymandius/silk spectre were the worst

manhattan/nite owl were decent enough

the sex scene was pretty laughable

SPOILERS

it was supposed to be laughable

manhattan and nite owl were strengths

I thought rorscharch and the comedian were on the precipice of going overboard a few times but they managed to reign it in decently

One thing I would have cut would have been making The Comedian's death so freaking long in the beginning. That was unnecessary. Also some of the slides in the opening credits were just tacked on for historical purposes.

3/5 Watchmen

It definitely wasn't a bad movie. Rorschach was the best part of the movie. The action and violence was great.

The dialogue was very boring at times. Silk was terrible. Ozy was bad. I would have been fine with the length of the movie if I felt that every scene mattered and was constantly building up to something big.  Defnitely too much Nixon - and an awful Nixon at that.

I was also thrown off by THE TIMES THEY ARE ACHANGING and ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER. The sex scene to HALLELUJAH was another one.

The Heartbreak Kid. I saw that the other night. I thought it was amazing how much better she was in Watchmen, and yet she still wasn't good.

I saw Push last night. Apparently it hasn't gotten many great reviews, but I thought it was pretty good. There were a couple of plotholes, but I thought it was (at the least) more interesting than standard action-movie fare. Had a couple of interesting twists, and was overall an enjoyable watch.

I've always hated giving number ratings; not going to bother. :p

Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder

3.5/5

An improvement over the third movie but Futurama still only really works well in 30-minute episodes.

Watchmen 2.5/5.

A very mixed bag.

Positives:

Rorshach was by far the best part of the movie. And not just because of the BATMAN VOICE. The scene with him in prison and taking care of business there was the best part of the movie.

The Comedian was also great too. The beginning with his death scene and him opening up to Max Headroom were very good scenes.

The use of music was fine. Save for the prison scene when they used a fairly modern song. Yeah Halleujah being used in the sex scene was funny. And "Unforgettable" in the beginning was great. Also the other songs fit the scene they were in. Like "All Along the Watchtower" with two riders approaching (although that's not a 1980's song IIRC)

The opening credits. Veldt in Studio 54 was funny.

The swerve of Veldt being in on the Comedian murder and everything else. I didnt see that coming.

Negatives: Silk Spectre II was awful. Maybe I wouldn't minded if an actress of greater talent was used.

Night Owl was very boring to me. He seemed the most normal of the bunch

I really didn't care for Silk and Night Owl getting a rush to fight crime. Like rescuing all those people from the fire.

"The Comedian is your father." The way that was said was laughable. That whole aspect of that with Jupiter and Comedian was pretty bad.

Dr Manhattan bored me a lot. And they could've toned down his backstory a bit. His scenes with silk were very bad.

Lots of parts of the ending. The way Rorshach died. "Forgive Me Girl". I could go on.

In the Middle:

I actually didnt mind Veldt that much. He wasn't on much to garner a negative opinion.

Wonder Woman:

Fun, but I'm not a whole fan of the gods/mortals thing, and it's really heavy here. It was a fun choice making Steve a wisecracking masochistic pig, though.

It included a preview of the next DC DTV, which will be of Green Lantern. It's going to focus not just Hal, but the other Lanterns too, which I think will be cool.

Dead Like Me: Life After Death 3/5 -- Yeah it was OK. The major strength was George's sister's storyline kind of getting an ending at long last, though the romantic elements of it were cheesy. The girl that replaced Daisy was bad, but moreover, they basically threw out the characterization of Daisy completely. She was like dumber than Daisy was in the first episode she was in. They also took like the first 15 minutes just to explain the premise of the show. Oh and George looked tired with her droopy eyes and botox face the entire time. I kind of just thought to myself that I don't think Ellen Muth is even that good but maybe she was in the show and I'm just forgetting. Of course missing Rube was also a loss.

I Love You Man 2.5/5

I'd give this a 3, but I was pretty excited to see it so I was let down. This isn't one you would have any interest in watching again. Not that funny, not that great. I enjoy when Jason Segel plays this character rather than the awful one he played in Sarah Marshall. I expect better from Paul Rudd.

Coraline 2.5/5

This was kind of long and boring. The end was really intense, though, and the 3D was awesome. Other than that, the whole movie kind of dragged. I hated the dialogue and Dakota Fanning is an awful VA. Not enough backstory either. And why was Wibey's grandma black? That was stupid.

Monsters vs Aliens 3D 3.5/5

So this actually was pretty good. Seth Rogen's character completely stole the movie. The movie was obviously aimed at a younger demographic, but the story was well written and had enough jokes in it that only adults would appreciate. The 3D was awesome too. I'm completely hooked on this 3D business.

Dragonball Evolution - 1/5

Only giving this a 1 because Jamie Chung, the girl playing Chi Chi, had her cans out the whole movie. Emmy Rossum has a great rack too. So did the chick playing Mai. Great female casting. Awful awful movie.

Observe and Report - 1.5/5

Awful script, awful story, not funny. I officially do not like Seth Rogen as a lead man. Anna Faris needs to show her tits.

I expected I Love You Man to suck. It surprised me by not sucking. There were some painfully awkward moments and I feel it lacked a little heart, but it did a good job balancing humor and the romance aspects while still keeping it a comedy and not a romcom. Paul Rudd really surprised me in ho well he played that character, though it was Jason Segel who definitely carried the film.

Besides, it's not like 3.5 stars is a fantastic rating. It simply means it was good enough that I'd watch it again if a friend said they wanted to see it.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2/5 -- Went to this for free. Best part was when the projector went out like three times and we ended up getting free passes after the showing. That's called turning a profit.

Story was really rushed. CGI was FUCKING AWFUL. It was mildly entertaining, but that's about it. Definitely a big letdown.

Not if it's free passes to Wolverine

Is Ebert's criticism that Wolverine is essentially indestructable valid? Seeing him chop the blades off that helicopter worried me.
